Black-Owned Brands at Target

Shop Direct: Supporting Black-Owned Brands at Target

Target has recently come under fire for its decisions regarding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, sparking important conversations about corporate accountability.

While these discussions are necessary, it’s equally important to ensure that the backlash doesn’t inadvertently harm the Black-owned brands that have worked tirelessly to secure a place on Target’s shelves and website.

These businesses—many of which are small, independent, and founded by passionate entrepreneurs—deserve our support now more than ever.

Below, we’ve curated a list of Black-owned brands available at Target. We encourage you to shop directly from their websites whenever possible.

Beauty & Personal Care

Home & Lifestyle

Food & Beverage

Toys & Activities

Apparel & Accessories

  • Mateo New York: Contemporary jewelry designed with simplicity and elegance in mind.
  • More Than Peach: Inclusive art supplies and educational tools for kids.
  • HBCU Culture Shop: Provides accessible and fashionable apparel that celebrates HBCUs.
  • Happy Hues: Essentials designed to bring style and practicality to baby and toddler care.
  • Little Muffincakes: Culturally inspired baby and toddler accessories.
  • Afro Unicorn: Celebrating uniqueness with clothing, accessories, and hair care items.

By supporting these brands directly, we can ensure that our dollars have the greatest impact on the entrepreneurs behind them.

  1. Good morning Shoppe Black,

Thank you so much for this list. I looked at it twice and didn’t see Tabitha Brown’s name and products.

    Thanks for all you do.

      • The Honey Pot is Black founded but not Black owned anymore. Beatrice Dixon, retains a minority stake in the company after its acquisition by Compass Diversified for $380 million. The existing management team continues to run the business under this new partnership.

  2. Love the list but even more the catalyst it may become. I’ve shared it with all my friends and hope that everyone who sees your story and list will do the same. I know it is a great list and hope you will add more companies beyond target. Excellent job. Thanks so much!!!

  3. Great list! Please consider adding Creamalicious Ice Cream to the list – owned and founded by a black woman and Executive Chef Liz Rogers

  4. Thank you very much. I’ve created lists before and shared with my family to encourage focusing on supporting us and keeping our businesses thriving. Oh and it looks like you left Tabitha Brown off the list.
