Black-owned Mental Health Practices

10 Black-owned Mental Health Practices | Vol. 1

Behavioral healthcare continues to evolve as demand for mental health services outpaces the available workforce.

According to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, approximately 137 million Americans—about 40% of the U.S. population—live in a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area, while shortages are projected across nearly every major behavioral health profession through 2038.

As independent practices expand beyond traditional therapy to include psychiatry, psychological assessments, clinician training, workplace mental health, and telehealth, Black-owned mental health practices are helping increase access to care while creating employment opportunities for clinicians.

The practices featured below represent a cross-section of independent Black-owned mental health businesses providing individual, family, and group therapy, psychological evaluations, trauma-informed care, and specialized behavioral health services.
