The viral dating show Pop the Balloon is set to re

The viral dating show Pop the Balloon is set to reach new heights with a Netflix deal that brings the high-stakes romance series to a global stage. The streamer announced that the live version of the show will premiere April 10, 2025, airing weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET. Originally created by Arlette Amuli and Bolia Matundu, Pop the Balloon gained popularity on platforms like TikTok and YouTube for its unique twist on dating competition: contestants try to build connections while keeping their balloons intact. A single pop means elimination—and the end of a romantic prospect. Now adapted for Netflix, the series will be hosted by Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Yvonne Orji, best known for her role on HBO’s Insecure. While Amuli and Matundu will not host the Netflix version, they are on board as executive producers. In an official statement, the duo said, “We’re thrilled to see Pop the Balloon take on a new life on Netflix…From day one, we’ve kept love and fun at the heart of the show, and watching it evolve and soar beyond our wildest dreams has been truly exciting. As executive producers, we’re proud to support this next chapter and can’t wait for both new and longtime fans to experience it.” Netflix’s Tudum platform describes the show as one that brings “suspense, surprise, and romance,” all wrapped in a high-energy, live format that’s set to engage viewers in real-time each week.
