Hair care is a multibillion-dollar industry fueled primarily by Black women. We spend A LOT of money – an estimated $2.5 billion on hair care products in 2016 – nine times more than the general market.
But what should we do when a Black-owned brand down the “multicultural” road to riches (see: Shea Moisture, Carol’s Daughter, etc.) and literally erases the large majority of us from their visual content? Find other Black-owned businesses to support of course!
